Dear Parents,
This past Monday was our observance of Indigenous People’s Day—a holiday that celebrates Native Americans and commemorates their histories and cultures. It is a reminder to continue to work towards social justice so that people of all cultures are treated with kindness, dignity, and compassion. Here at school, as described in our Schoolwide Learning Expectations (SLEs), we strive towards social justice with our core values—
to GROW by embracing new experiences with an open heart and open mind;
to ACCOMPLISH by thinking critically;
to LOVE by making choices based on the teachings of Jesus Christ;
to SERVE by living out the corporal and spiritual Works of Mercy;
to UNITE by welcoming people of all backgrounds as St. Peter’s community members.
In honor of Indigenous People’s Day, here is an excerpt of a prayer from the United Church:
O God, for the witness of strength, caring, and love of Indigenous peoples, and for the struggle for what is just and right, open our hearts this day. Encourage us to listen more, speak less, participate in the movements for change that will bring us together in good and respectful ways. Encourage us to make friends, get to know someone’s story, and share our stories too, without fear, for in Christ we know we are all kin, relatives, with you and with each other and with all living and non-living things.

ZOOM PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES
October 18, 19, and 20 are Minimum Day dismissals for students so that teachers can meet with all parents for the mandatory Parent-Teacher Conferences. This will be a time when teachers will be sharing each student’s Progress Report for Trimester 1. Parents can learn about their children’s progress and ask teachers questions. All Parent-Teacher Conferences will be conducted via Zoom.
Parents – On Class Dojo, your child’s teacher shared a link to a Parent-Teacher Conference sign-up sheet. If you have not done so already, please choose an appointment time so that your child’s teacher can coordinate his/her full conference schedule and confirm your appointment time for this very important meeting. Thank you for your cooperation!
SCHOOL HALLOWEEN CELEBRATION
Our school Halloween celebration will take place on Friday, October 27. We will begin with a costume parade on the schoolyard at 1:00 PM, followed by games and snack sales. Parents are welcome to join the celebration.
Students are welcome to come to school in an age-appropriate Halloween costume on Friday, October 27. However, please do not bring any costume parts or props that resemble any type of weapon. Thank you for your cooperation on this matter.
Students may bring individually-wrapped treats to share with their classmates for the Halloween celebration. Teachers will notify families about the number of students in each class so that all students in the class are included if a treat is distributed.
Since our school Halloween celebration will be on Friday, October 27; Tuesday, October 31 will be a regularly scheduled school day with students in school uniform.
Please contact the office with any questions!

SCHOOL UNIFORMS
We live our core value to UNITE as students wear their school uniform with pride. Please remember that the complete daily uniform includes the plain white polo shirt, navy slacks or uniform skirt/jumper, green uniform sweatshirt, black or white socks, and solid black or solid white sneakers (tennis shoes).
On Fridays (unless there is a church service), students may wear the optional gray Aztecs hoodie, Aztecs sweatpants, and Aztecs T-shirt.
** To purchase the gray Aztecs sweats, obtain an order form in the school office.
For more details on the school uniform, refer to the Uniform section of the Parent-Student Handbook that was distributed on the first day of school, which is also available on the school website: http://www.stpeterssf.org/parents-students
Students who are out of uniform will receive a “Uniform Notice” to be signed by a parent or guardian, as a reminder about the uniform policy, and to help us unite as a school community!
